Iwami Ginzan Silver Mine and its Cultural Landscape 石見銀山
Inscribed 2007CulturalShimane
A silver mine worked from the 16th to the 20th century whose output once supplied a large share of the world's silver and linked Japan to global trade. The mining valleys, the preserved town of Omori, transport routes and the shipping ports of Tomogaura, Okidomari and Yunotsu survive as a complete cultural landscape.
